A slow summer of waves at home and a promising swell forecast was all it took. With the CT event just days away, Jack booked a last-minute ticket, setting his sights on Fiji and the chance to find big left-hand barrels before the contest took over.
 
Expectations were low with the tour arriving and tricky conditions, but one afternoon everything fell into place. “The swell dropped a touch and the tide filled in perfectly, and I got a window for an hour or two that was magical; it felt like the planets aligned”, Jack recalls.
